Delightful receptionist (Fiona), very cheerful and helpful - a real asset. Attractive reception area - very modern. Lovely toiletries in the bathroom. Hotel's "No1 Bistro" - delicious food, excellent service, young and friendly staff. Chef provided us with a cooked breakfast half an hour before breakfast generally served - night porter very oblgingly acted as waiter till regular staff started their shift. All in all, excellent service.
Rooms are a little on the small side. Would prefer king-sized quilts on the double beds.

Comfortable stay, great food.
Comfort and good food comes at a price. But you do get what you pay for.

Perfect spot for a group getaway
Had a warm welcome from the receptionist as soon as we walked in it felt good. We also had dinner in the restaurant, they served us a fantastic meal with locally sourced ingredients, it was nice.
It wasn't exactly cheap but still quite acceptable for what we got.

Dinner in the bistro.
Overall condition of hotel - needs substantial refurbishment. Booked and paid full price for double room but we were given single size room with small old bed. Intermittent noise from heating pump throughout night. Breakfast was incomplete - no yoghurts, croissants/pastries, fresh fruit, skimmed milk.

The Bistro restaurant food was vey good as was the breakfast and the service was first class.
Although the rooms have eveything you need they could do with updating.

Staff were incedibly courteous, informative and efficient. The integral restaurant provided a varied menu and served food of a good standard reflecting reasonable value for money.
The price charged for a double room for my wife and I was £110:00. This charge was acceptable for the size of room and accompanying facilities. However, the single charge to my father of £87:00 was outrageous. One might have expected, for this price, a hotel with a pool, sauna, gym?? There were none of these, just a single bed in an adequately furnished room. Whilst we can always expect a "single supplement" for a room still has to be serviced after the occupier has left, whether it is two occupants or one, this "supplement was excessive and does no favours for the hotel industy in NE Scotland and no favours for Wick.

great service but basic room
The staff were great, ensuring all needs were met. The breakfast offered a variety of choices and was genuinely good.
The room itself felt a bit basic, lacking some of the amenities one might expect.

The food
The smell of sewage in the lobby and in the room at times but I did note a plumbing van outside next morning so gather there was a problem with the drains Noisy extractor fan that seemd to go on forever!!the decor was a little dated and no glass mats in room

The room was small and decor/furniture very jaded. In need of a refurbishment for the price they are charging. Salad with meal very tired and wilted. Disappointing.

Central location of this lovely family run hotel was a bonus. We dined at an excellent nearby restaurant with local dishes. Had a just perfect stay for one night on our NC500 trip, no reason to complain.
